Caring for you after the initial treatment
Post minimally invasive treatment
- Whilst wearing the compression stockings, minor activity restrictions (e.g. reduced amount of heavy lifting and avoidance of hot spas) are recommended for the 4 days after RFA and for the first week after UGS and Micro.
- This will optimise the healing process of removal of the refluxing superficial veins.
- After the compression stockings are removed, you can return to all of your usual activities.
- Eventually, over weeks to months, the scars will fade and be flattened by the healing process.

Caring for you after the initial treatment
- After the initial treatment, we plan to follow you for up to 12 months to evaluate the results using the ultrasound.
- At each follow-up consultation, our professional and expert assessment will determine if further treatment will be offered.
- If further minimally invasive procedures of ultrasound guided sclerotherapy (UGS) or microsclerotherapy (Micro) are performed, compression stockings will be recommended for 3 weeks.
- Being based in Dunedin, our team will be able to review you at short notice if any issues arise during the 12 months of follow-up.
